Bloggy McBlog

"If the work was true six months ago, it is still true today."--John Taylor

I assume that there are about some very large number of blogs out there. It's like some kind of cult but I would like to think that most people are like me such that we try to maintain individuality. A couple of my very good friends have blogs and I read them on a regular basis. But I also see these guys everyday so I know how their thought process works. However, it has done me good to read what they have written.

This brings me to a thought that I happened upon. I have clicked on the next blog button that is found up yonder on the top of the page. Hence, I have glimpsed at many a blog. There are some characters out there. I also have, mind you, stumbled on a blog or two to which I have read and have been amazed at what those people have written. Several occasions I've heard myself state, "That's really cool." And now the point: I wonder if anyone has happenstanced upon my blog and thought, "This is some cool stuff." Or if anyone I don't know has even read my blog. It's a possibility.

I think, if for nothing else, blogs are for expressing ideas and thoughts. That's what I've used mine for. This has helped me refine my views on several subjects and also on some of what I do or have done. As long as I am a better man tomorrow than I am today, I should being doing alright. Correct? That is all.

the $7.50 stand

"Did you wash your hands in battery acid?"--Kate Mosely, The Cutting Edge

Trips to Wal-Mart have to be taken. Sometimes it's because of the groceries, sometimes the hygiene products, maybe it's because of the ride and listening to loud muzak and/or just to get out of the apartment. All of which are worthy reasons. So yesterday, BenJammin' and I were by the electronics and we "just so happened" to pass by the stand that has DVD's on sale for $7.50. And then on that stand I saw the movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. At which time I proceeded to say "I hate myself," and picked up and bought the movie. I have made very good use of that particular stand. I must say, that BTEA is a very enjoyable flick. A couple of months back I was so very tempted to buy The Cutting Edge. I should have given in. That's my very favorite chick flick of all time. I have no problem saying that. I sometimes wonder if anyone will read this and think, "what is the deal with this dude?" Well, I don't know what the deal is, but I can dig it. I pretty much have to, I'm me. Or something like that....And then it became late and I decided I should go to sleep about half an hour ago. Goodnight scaliwags!

what the inspiration?

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but the mastery of it."--Robert D. Hales

Most people are human. I've been thinking these past few days about inspiration. And generally when one thinks, one discovers something and hence, let me share. I have observed that one is able to receive inspiration from some pretty odd places. Many of which are experiences and/or happenstances throughout the day. A thought comes and you're like, "whoa, hey, that's kinda cool." And by doing certain activities or reading certain books/newspapers/blogs and what else have you. And then you often go to those same places looking for more inspiring stuff.

I myself have realized that a large portion of my inspiration comes from reading or scanning through none other than Calvin and Hobbes. I really don't know what it is about Calvin or Hobbes or the side commentary of Bill Watterson that sparks my thinking genre. Possibly it's because I think much alike them. But whatever the reason I always seem to feel much better and find some thing I want to apply in my daily thought process.

Whatever helps you and wherever you get that inspiration, it's something good. Everyone needs a special place. And also special people for those feel-good moments. I treasure those.

Refreshed, like unto feeding chickens

"Call Cindy, and we're staying at your mom's place!"--benja

So after taking three tests this week, being in charge of several different activities, having officials checking out how well I'm doing at work, I was feeling pretty stressed. And the fact that almost the entirety of my intramural soccer team decided to ditch me, I was getting rather down on myself. So hence, Friday morn rolls along and while at work, I was thinking, "Self, you know, you're in kind of a rut. You need a change of scenery and what have you." And that's when the idea struck me. I called up my cousin as soon as I had the chance and he let me stay at his place for the night. I got myself out of town. That was the plan, [get her].

As much as I love where I live and who I live with, sometimes, I just need to get out and escape. Now don't get me wrong! I certainly don't live in Absolom or anything like that, it's just that one needs to go somewhere or do something that's not part of the daily grind. And that's exactly what I did.

We hardly did anything at all but I woke up this morning feeling like I could take on the world. My cousin lives about an hour and half drive away from me and ten minutes further live the grandparents. So this morning I had breakfast with G & G Sorensen. Grandma of course had to show me some of the stuff she had going on and also had me go with Grandpa to feed the chickens. That was rather quite fun.

After I got back to my place I just chilled with some old friends. Good times indeed. There was kickball, talent show [which consisted of a leopard skin suit], guitars unplugged and seeing extended family all today. Man, it was good. Plus, Bucknell beat Kansas. I was all over that and it made my day even better. And now it's just time to settle down and relax. Mmmm....Reese's and Mountain Dew. The latter does the body.....sumpin' else? You are great! And know this, I love you all.

Not in the face!!

"I just number two'd in your bed."--Brett

After waking up to the fact that my legs were hurting I was thinking, "you know, this probably can't be all that good for me." And so, my day has gone by and I spent a good portion of it not wanting to function really at all. Plus I had a billion things going on and about all of it didn't go so well. eh...

The upside today I had myself a steak and cheese sandwich from Subway. Holy Smokes, that was super good. That was for lunch and then I had this fatty nap. Hence, more of the feeling like I didn't want to do anything. But I still did a large portion of the heavy matters that needed to be taken care of. There are still things to do. Like my third test this week.

The thing that I need right now would be lots of sleep. And tomorrow is St. Patricks Day. All I can say is that I am super excited. Yes I am one of those peoples who dresses up in all these crazy clothes with mass amounts of green. And a golden hat. I may be bogged down with lots of stuff but I'm still fighting the good fight. That's all I need to do. Have fun!!

Bracketeering

Today in the newspaper we got the brackets for the NCAA tourney. Those in my apartment, including me, have made our guesses and stuff. And after not studying anything about the teams and what have you, it can be pretty much stated that my guesses are pure hogwash. But I tell you what!! 1st. round Syracuse bracket, Bucknell is going to take on Kansas. I have no idea where Bucknell is (or ever heard of them until today) but I'm all excited for them to win. YEAH!!! And that was about all that I had for you.

This list is not complete

This is a list some people were born once, and that was enough:

Mark Hammill
Timothy Dalton
Chris O'Donnell
Jim Carrey
"Weird" Al Yankovic
Gene Wilder
Tim Curry
Kris Kristofferson

Feel free to throw any other ideas at my face.

I'm not that cool

"I kissed you in a style that Clark Gable would admire."--The Postal Service

Have you ever seen the music video for Wild Wild West by the Escape Club? With the arms and the legs and just plain weird 80's music genre? So Dr. Jones did an impression of that video while I was eating breakfast yester morn. I would have punched him in the face if it wasn't so funny. Imagine what you will.

That was then followed by one of the greatest econ lectures ever. This is where the Professor proceeded to explain how one could apply the principles of economics in the social area of dating. I can't do the lecture justice but it was quite the concept. But think this, sunk costs, equilibrium and rational ignorance. I need to write it down somewhere.

Also, [bénxa] had his asking a girl out of the century. That in of itself is one of the best stories ever. I mean, who needs social norms? I am a firm believer of doing your own thing. As long as no one gets hurt in any way and we all have a good time it's all okay!!!

My night has also included buying pants, purchasing a Calvin & Hobbes book and shaving my head. All of which are great things. And I had the "capers" button for a while. That did me good.

09 March 2005

ehh....

So I feel like somebody punched me in the face today. That's generally no good. I don't want to do homework. I really don't want to do anything right now. Is that so terrible of me? And then I just happened to press the jack button on my foot with the aid of my file storage thing-ish-thing. Hence, me almost falling on my face on Dr. Jones' cpu. I don't want to be hozored. Make tomorrow better!!

Grandpa shirt day

"To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge."--Benjamin Disraeli

I am digging this weather. It's warm and the sun is out. yeah, so good. I ended up going to campus in the afternoon with a nice button up shirt that I had yoinked from my grandpa's closet. It was very nice enough to wear light polyester. Good deal indeed.

These past few days have been the kind where I do lots of pondering. I've been thinking about a lot of stuff. This includes everything ranging from the general what have you of girls, what the heck I'm doing, friends, family, what I want to do tomorrow, next week, rest of my life. You get the idea. This is stemming off the Moleskines that I have. I'm about done with the current one (give me two days) and I just got back my new one in which a very good friend of mine did a couple of drawings for me. She's the best ever. She's the one who has made these Moleskines priceless. I've looked at the blank pages and have wondered about what I might end up doing and writing in there. I have no idea what may happen in my near future but I am excited about the possibilities and opportunities I will have. Things are going to happen and I am getting to the point where I will probably end up doing some pretty crazy stuff. There are things I want to try and see what happens.

Whatever comes your way or mine, I hope the good things are seen and the best is made. Laugh, smile, be happy and please take care of yourself. Good things are coming!!

A day to be enjoyed

"Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory."--Albert Schweitzer

Ahh....it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Will you be mine? eh...SO, anyway, there has been some beautiful weather going on lately and let me tell you, I'm loving it. I'm walking around without a jacket and in shorts and people are smiling and everyone seems to be in a good mood. I'm thoroughly okay with this. Even yesterday, I went up to class without my beanie. I felt a bit naked but you know, all was good. I don't know what the future has in store for me yet, but I'm excited to see what happens.

I finally put out my hammock yesterday. Talk about the most comfortable thing ever. I was laying out this morning afternoon-ish. I was around people I know and loved. Had some good chats. Couldn't do everything I wanted to do but nonetheless, I had myself a rather good day indeed. I was out and about some and it did me a lot of good. I'll see what I can do for the rest of the night.

Please smile and do something good. You all are great!!

Smiles

"He who has health has hope, and he who has hope, has everything."--Arabian Proverb

Big thing: I got my taxes done!! I'm getting money back and just the deed of taxes is out of the way. I'm super okay with this. Everything went without a hitch. I'm still going to bed early which is a super good thing.

The afternoon was something else. I saw a couple of peoples that I haven't seen in a while. I had a nice little talk with the first one. All is going well. Just good to see her. The second, I only saw. But there was a smile. Can I just say that meant a whole lot to me. I believe that we don't realize enough what a simple smile is capable of. I felt great. Did me wonders. I just can't help but ponder how much we affect one another. I can only imagine what others think of me. I only hope to have a positive influence to those I meet.

Go, smile, give a hug and make somebody happy. Someone did that to me today. Thank you.
